The Best Time for New Beginnings, is NOW (week 1)

Today is January 10, 2019 and it’s my first day in Kendari. I woke up at 6:00 in the morning to prepare myself and to prepare my things. Afterwards, our service arrived at 8:30 in the morning and the faculty from the department of education-Mrs. Uke, assisted us to the office of the vice dean of education at Halu Oleo University. There are three vice deans in their department and we met the two of them. The two deans entertained us and they are very accommodating, we basically did some chitchats. After that meet and greet with the deans, Mrs. Uke assisted me to my assigned public school called SD Kuncup Pertiwi. As I entered the school, it reminds me of the public elementary school in the Philippines, And as I walked towards the office of the school head, I’ve noticed that all the elementary students have those smiles in their faces, as if they are very excited to meet new people.  As I entered the office of the school head, Mrs. Uke introduced me with the school head, Mrs. Srinarti, even though there is a language barrier between the both of us we still did some chitchat and I introduced myself with her in Bahasa language, and by that time Mrs. Srinarti introduced me with all the teachers inside the office, and I’ve noticed that most of the teachers from that school cannot speak in English, but I still did my best to show my interest in meeting them all. And after that, one of the faculty members and with Mrs. Uke they toured me around the school and introduced me with all the classroom assignment of the student from Grades one to six. As we go back to the office of the school head, Mrs. Srinarti told me to go to school on Saturday, for me to get my schedule and assigned classroom and she even told me to take the rest of the day to rest and to prepare everything before the start of my practice teaching, so I took the day and did some shopping. So, since I am not yet familiar with the places here in Kendari. Mrs. Uke insisted to accompany me going to the nearest mall which is Lippo plaza, and the first place that I went to was their Hypermarket because I have to buy some stuffs for room since there was nothing when we arrived. For my utility stuff I bought myself a plate and a tumbler, and grab some ready to eat food like bread, I even bought some instant food like cup noodles, and of course since I can’t drink the tap water, I bought a lot of water for me to consume wherever I go. After that quick grocery shopping, we went to a restaurant called Solaria it is a local Indonesian restaurant here in Kendari, and I ordered their Nasi goreng sosi,  it’s basically a steamed rice topped with a lot of hotdog bits, cucumber, string beans, green peas and to add some color and spice, it also has soy sauce and a bit of spicy peppers, and I paired it with a cold Iced tea lemonade. And their serving was a lot for me to finish it, so I told the crew to let me take my left over. That lunch meal costed me for about 54,000 IDR and I am very satisfied with the taste of the food and the service of the crew from that restaurant.
